That sounds very convenient! Unfortunately, if I fly SAN-LAX-NRT-FUK, I get to FUK at 10 PM, which is too late to then try to get to Hiroshima I think. If I fly SAN-LAX-NRT-ITM, I get to ITM at 8 PM, which should allow me to get to Hiroshima before 11. I think this is the only way to avoid an extra overnight. (The other way would be to fly SAN-ORD-NRT-HIJ, since the ORD-NRT gets in early enough to connect to HIJ, but going via ORD costs more.)

ITM to JR Shin-Osaka would be about Y4000. Should be either taxi stand 1 or 2. There is a way to get to JR Shin-Osaka by train but your will have to transfer twice, monorail + subway + a short ride on the Osaka-Kyoto line.
I think train+train via Tokyo or Shinagawa is best.
Train via Tokyo requires an overnight in Tokyo, I think. So maybe SAN-LAX-NRT-ITN, then taxi to Shin-Osaka, then train to Hiroshima.
