..are you kidding....Canadians love loyality programs, we are a country that is point crazy!!! AC is alive for one reason and one reason only, *SE who pay and pay. in 2007 about 20% of AC clients contributed to 80% of their bottom line, which is in keeping with the traditional profitability model. We all love AP and will pay extra just to earn those precious AP points. We shop at specific stores, buy specific items and fly specific airlines. There are those who have to fly for a living and will pay what ever as the cost of doing business because that is what they do. Then there are those who count every segement and stick to one program to make it count, clawing and scraping their way to a tier!!!!
Marketers love these people who flock to points and these points and AP keeps AC alive!! In Canada we do not have much choice in airlines and although 80% of the Canadian population lives withing 200 KM of the US borders. Many Canadian do not take advantage of US carriers, many, many do but surprisingly the full potential is not there. But now I digress.
