Just did a mock booking on AA.com, i think you can find something around 220USD.

I don't think anything can earn you club points beside flying. Good luck!
Same thought, for you based in SFO, one transcon/hawaii rt involving a connection at LAX should be enough for 5300 club miles.

Five advice
1. Hawaii most likely will be more expensive, but MR isn't for all of us, weekend getaway usually is.
2. Double check the asia miles counter to make sure your flights give you enough mileage.
3. Being CX Gold, you have access to the admiral's club, so why not use it
4. Give a 2 week window between your flight and the end of Nov, therefore ensuring the flight will credit, CX does it by crediting date.
5. Give a call to AA reservations after booking on aa.com, I've gotten for my parents exit row seats who are CX Silvers.

Have fun. PS. And if you can find AA EXP/PLT to go along with you because of the current double elite mileage promotion, they can possibly get you sticker upgrades on flight(s) making the MR all more enjoyable.
