Airmiles tickets do often book into regular fare buckets on BA and you do get the miles for these flights. BA "Part Cash, Part Miles" tickets don't and it may be the VS version of this was purchased here. I'm not that familliar with the FC rules though so I don't know.

BA also allow you to purchase and upgrade with BA miles and you get the miles/points for the original ticket purchased does VS do the same.
