Two other reasons: I often travel with a colleague, he is *S now. He does not get exit rows either.
When your seat change at checkin because you book an exit row seat, that means you are not qualify for that seat, probably is some system glitch that is not supposed to allow you to do that in the first place, hence you got bumped out of your seat.

On UA, I never got bumped out of my exit row, as it is one on of the benefit of being UA*G to pre-assign exit row in advance.

LX probably follow other carriers only *G can pre-assign exit rows then, as you know there are only a few exit seats in each plane. *S is easy to reach, many people can qualify for that status but not *G.
