Yes, UA Asia always prices connections for which no fare exists in an outrageous manner.

While your itin cannot be sensibly flown on UA, SIN-TPE can be done really well via NRT and prices as US$ 2809 for the cheapest fare (as the OP requests) on some random dates in October .. that's 70 cents per mile (SIN-TPE).
