There is major fireworks over Victoria Harbour in Hong Kong on the evening of 10/1/09, but that would be the only day you'll see that. If you'd arrive in HK a couple days before that, you'll be fine.
We booked the new Harbor Grande Hotel,club floor and deeluxe harborview room already for 30th to 2nd. Were then thinking of doing the train ride(s), at least the HK/Bj leg - just for fun
