I'll be flying Easyjet for the first time and I'm trying to understand their baggage policies. Even though I speak the same language, I can't quite understand their rules:
__________________________________________________ __________

Baggage Allowances

Each passenger is permitted

one standard piece of hand baggage to maximum dimensions of 55x40x20cm, and
Up to 8 pieces of checked-in hold baggage to a maximum combined weight of 20kg. Each piece of checked-in hold baggage will incur a fee, which is payable online or at the airport at a higher charge. A fee per kilo for excess weight is charged at the airport prior to departure

Liquids in hand baggage are subject to the following government-imposed restrictions:

The liquid is in a container with a maximum volume of 100ml
All liquid containers meeting the maximum volume of 100ml can be fitted comfortably into a transparent, re-sealable 1 litre plastic bag, measuring 20cmx20cm.
The plastic bag should be presented separately at security

You will be required to dispose of liquids which do not meet the above requirements at the airport security station.

Each passenger is allowed a maximum combined hold baggage weight of 50kg including any sports equipment, subject to available space. The maximum weight for any single piece of baggage is 32kg. Freight or cargo items cannot be accepted as passenger baggage.

So if I read the flyertalk commentary correctly, my carry-on bag can weigh ANYTHING as long as it meets the 55x40x20cm dimensions. Is that still true? And how PICKY are they on these dimensions: I just measured a few of my family's rollerboards and they're REAL close on the length -- like if you add the handle, we'd be a centimeter or two over 55 cm. Is there a rule of reason on this -- or is it strictly enforced to maximize revenue?

And what's the charge if we want to check bags? The above language is vague, unclear and (literally) contradictory. If I want to check a small suitcase weighing 15 kg, what will I pay?

Thanks. My family packs light and small (at least by American standards), but these rules are tough. I guess I'll have to find a laundromat in Paris.
