I have an early morning flight (6am!) on DL for SFO-JFK. Would I be able to fly standby for the previous night redeye? Will the computer let me switch with that Fly Now thing, or should I just show up at the gate?

I understand that NW sometimes lets you do this, but I'm not sure what the deal with DL is.
