As for the OP, burying your head in the sand and carrying on like nothing is happening is not an option. On the route network, this is largely intact. A couple of routes have been dropped but new ones have been added at both LHR (see Jumbodriver's signature) and LGW. Frequencies on certain destinations in Africa have also been increased.
BA would be in a far worse position than it is now if it was all "4 engines 4 long-haul" (cough).

Yes. I expect an official period of mourning followed by a significant order of 748s. As for the 4 Engines crack, that particular airline seems to be doing ok in this economic climate but they'll be flying 787s too at some point so that's not going to fly anymore (arf!).
