A similar experience was hitting the milestone early to nominate somebody for Premier Associate. Because we qualified early, our deadline to nominate was the end of June or July (?) and the nominee's status is good only until through the end of 2009. If we'd hit the milestone later, our nominees would be 3P through the end of 2010. Not a huge deal as it works out well for our nominees anyway but we felt a little penalized for being such good customers.
That's why many of us waited to register for Elite Choice until after July 1 (or 30 days before July 1 at least).
