Actually, dcmesser, I had this situation once on a BOS-ORD leg about a year ago. I was 1k at the time (PE now, a moment of silence for sadness over the downgrade, missed by 10k miles due to econ downturn last year...), on the aisle in E+ with a POS enjoying a third of my seat along with the one she purchased. FA is walking down the aisle before the door closes, I make eye contact with her and make a quick facial expression. She finishes her walk to the back, and I suddenly hear my name on the audio requesting I head to the back of the aircraft. Upon arrival the FA says "wow, back luck on the seating, once we shut the door we'll move you to a new seat." First was full, so FA ended up moving someone in exit row and put me on the aisle there. I thought the FA handled the situation with class and of course I was thrilled with the result.
