The luggage has been lost for more then two days now, and i'm thinking the chances for recovery are pretty slim. I couldn't really find any info on the rules relating to gate check luggages, are they treated any different than regular check luggages.

Any advice of suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Is US-Canada travel covered by the Montreal Convention? Airline transport covered by the Montreal Convention requires that the airline cover electronics as well. While many airlines try to pretend that electronics are excluded, the law is such that transport covered by the Montreal Convention does not allow the airlines to exclude from coverage all electronics and other valuables in checked luggage.
