Well, this will be odd. For example - 15k miles for the taxes ($200) and 30k miles for the fare ($75).
The good thing is it now makes sense to use miles for more complicated european trips, whose taxes and fuel surcharge otherwise would be very high.

I wish it could be done the other way around - pay the fuel surcharge with miles and the fare with money
