I was sitting in business on a UK domestic flight (regular A320 with convertible seating) and in my front pocket was an inflight shopping guide. As it had a more extensive range of items (and also claimed they accept Amex) I thought it must have been the long haul catalogue. But in the back pages they had a list of on-board drinks and snacks to buy - these did not have any resemblance to what they sell in short haul (e.g. Stella instead of Carlsberg). To add further confusion it said that the cigarettes were not available on European flights.
As far as I know they have complimentary catering on the longer flights so if this was a long haul menu then why would they list charges for the beer?
Assuming these catalogues were also in the seat pockets in Economy it may have caused confusion if anyone bothered to read them. I've personally never seen them before.
Also Voyager didn't have the usual pages in it that listed the food available to purchase, do they have a separate edition of Voyager that's used on flights with complimentary catering or is this section missing on all editions of Voyager this month?
The only other thing I could think of is that this catalogue is for bmi charter flights, do bmi use a different caterer for charters (explaining the Stella rather than the Carlsberg) and if it's charter then why do they accept Amex for those flights and not on the mainline? It must be embarrassing for staff to have to decline a credit card with a huge bmi logo printed on the front of it
