Perhaps this deserves it's own thread, but I was recently on a AA flight to Central America with Santiago based flight crew. They insisted that I speak Spanish in order to sit in the exit row. While this wasn't a problem for me, it seemed odd that an U.S. airline would allow all emergency announcements to be made entirely en Espanol.
Your responsibilities are to understand announcements from the crew and interact with other PAX - who might not speak English. Actually seems reasonable to me...
