Certainly as an RA, and I think as an Amb too, this charge is automatically waived. It still appears on the booking page, but when you actually confirm a booking it disappears on the confirmation screen.
One way to find out would be to book a flexible room, see if the extra person charge appears or not, then cancel it again.
