While I will undoubtedly make the obligatory pilgrimage to Paul Revere's house and a few other landmarks, I mostly enjoy walking around cities -- especially if they have interesting neighborhoods (like NY's Greenwich Village) or South Philly. Do you have any you can recommend that are within a reasonable distance from the Doubletree?

Lastly, what kind of clothing do I have to pack for late October?

Most stations have elevators, but some are locked and for wheel-chair use only.

You'd be doing the transfer at State Street which the MBTA says "This station is under construction for improved accessibility. Currently the Orange Line is accessible. Blue Line is wheelchair accessible on outbound/to Wonderland side only. Inbound/to Bowdoin riders must transfer to outbound train at Government Center Station, travel back to State and exit on outbound side." Which doesn't sound fun on the elevator side (You'll be doing blue inbound to orange).

Escalators exist, but aren't fun with 2 suitcases. (It's been a long while since I've been through that station).

Clothing-wise: it can get chilly in late October, a good jacket and gloves are nice. Doesn't need to be a down jacket, but at least a fleece. A light sweater, mid-weight pants, and warm socks ought to work. We generally don't see snow for a few more months so no need for snow gear.
