I recognize that many hotels were built/wired before the days when guests would travel with some many electronic devices, and re-wiring a room can be expensive. But a basic power strip is less than $10. There should be one in every hotel room. But until that happens, I too have started to travel with my own.

My choice is a squid - it'll let me plug in 5 at a time, with no worries about bulky adapters blocking several plugs.
