I think for J, it isn't that much difference. Yes, you get more space upstairs on J in 74A and it's quieter, but I actually think even the back (large) J section on 77A is quite a nice ride AND overall they tend to be newer than the 74As (the wear and tear on the new product happens quickly). In F, it's a different story overall...there is just something about the nose of a 747 that is much nicer IMO (and the bathrooms are bigger and have a window on 74A vs 77A in F). If F isn't full and you get a chance, I'd chose 74A.
