Perhaps a local repair shop can evaluate or even fix it for you, albeit out of pocket rather than warranty service. I had a strap that started to separate on a Pathfinder TX2 last year and was going to send it in. Got the RMA but never got around to sending it and now it's too late, d'oh! However, did get a better solution with the OEM for Tom Bihn's absolute strap, albeit at extra cost though saved versus buying the fancier TB.

Can you explain what the problem is with the handle? I suppose that's what you mean with the expander. Or do you mean the expansion mechanism for making the bag bigger? You mean it won't stay down?

If it's the latter there are several DIY methods because it is such a simple tension/friction mechanism. One thing is to check whether the nylon strap is actually threaded correctly. If it is, there might be a way to thread it differently that will lock the expansion mechanism. Like looping it around again. The other method would be to apply some wraps of duct tape at the exact spot where the strap meets the plastic retainer. Basically you want to increase friction at that point to prevent slipping. OR, very simple, use a safety pin and block it. It's literally a five second operation. No need to send the bag in.
