All Star Pizza Co.

...and, best of all, I know the owners!

I met with some colleagues here for the first time for a small dinner gathering. I entered the place with trepidation, as I am almost always disappointed with any pizza I eat outside of the New York/New Jersey area, although I have eaten some fairly decent pies in Slovenia and Italy last year. I ordered a small 12" pepperoni and green olive pie, thinking I may eat a few bites or even a whole slice before not being able to eat any more.

While waiting, I saw a pizza that someone else ordered. Hmm...that actually looks pretty good, I thought to myself. I was not all that hungry because I had eaten a lot of food for lunch that day. I hope my pizza somewhat resembles that one, I thought.

When my pie arrived, it looked quite appetizing. I reached for a slice and took a bite. Not bad!, I thought. I folded the slice to eat further, just like I used to do at pizzerias in Brooklyn. As I kept eating, I liked the pizza more and more. The firm yet chewy crust resembled one found on a pizza from Brooklyn. There was the right combination of ingredients, with the flavors and textures nicely balancing each other. It was not too oily either, nor was it overcooked or undercooked.

Save for one slice eaten by someone else, I wound up eating the entire pie, even though I was already full after only the second slice, but I just could not stop eating!

I highly recommend this place. If you are ever in the Marietta area and crave for pizza, this is the place to go!

Here is a review that I posted earlier in this thread.

Since then, I have taken several FlyerTalk members and family members to this place. They have asked to return.

It even passed the taste test of the most discerning pizza critic: my mother. She ate two slices!
Sadly, All Star Pizza in Marietta, Georgia is under new ownership — as my friends sold this pizzeria — and I can no longer recommend it.

The last time I visited and ordered a pepperoni and green olive pizza just as ownership of the pizzeria was being transferred, the quality and consistency of the pizza had significantly deteriorated, although the pizza was still passably good.
