Do stations have an incentive to send a car "home" if they can? Or even in the general direction of "home"?

That is, do individual stations run reports on upcoming one-way reservations and then cross-reference the destinations against their existing inventory to see if there are some logical matches?

Or...related question...say I rent a highly-desirable car one-way. Example: I'm willing to pay whatever the ridiculous one-day rate is to drive a Corvette across Kansas from DEN to MCI. Now MCI has a car on their lot that they didn't have yesterday...they can rent it for $100/day, give it to their most elite renter, sell it as a paid upgrade, etc. Does DEN get a cut of that revenue? Can DEN say "We want our 'Vette back"? If a guy shows up tomorrow with an MCI to DEN one-way booking for a compact car, will he get the 'Vette assuming it's the only thing on the lot with Colorado tags?
