September 4 and 6

Westin LAX
* Plat/Gold check-in line *never* open (I've stayed at this property multiple times and have never, ever seen it open). They need to create a separate queue space near the regular line (similar to the Gateway) and call the next Elite from that line ahead of regular guests
* Rooms and bathrooms are really, really outdated
* Upgrades must be requested
* Self parking convenient and reasonable ($14)
* No lounge to speak of, and limited food options

Sheraton Gateway LAX
* Plat/Gold check-in lane is often ignored by staff in favor of the next person in the riff-raff line. This needs to change.
* Rooms are nice - renovated, clean and sleek.
* Upgrades must be requested
* Free Plat buffet breakfast while Lounge is renovated
* Self parking is *not* convenient and you need to pay the hotel rate ($13) which is higher than the airport rate, even if you don't use the in/out privilege
* At least on my stay, the hotel was packed with noisy riff-raff on Hotwire or Priceline discounts who treated the place like a giant dorm
