I applied for personal Amex, MC and Visa cards at one sitting on the morning of Sept 7 (a legal holiday in the US). Received separate calls about 9 hours later (half an hour apart) from a faraway nation, saying that MC and Visa were approved.

Today I got an email rejecting the Amex, on the basis of "You have submitted multiple applications for credit."
