Watermelon, Strawberry & Vanilla Soup- It happens at the Glasgow Hilton

Hi,

Yes, the above soup was actually served in the dinner buffet at Minsky's on Saturday 7th Feb night : D- it was interesting, refreshing , cold and a little sour for my taste- I would not drink a litre of it

Anyway back to the trip report.

Sat 7th Feb
1 night Stay
Hilton Glasgow
Room 1417 ( Corner room)
Rate £ 99 GBP

I arrived at around 315pm just before the heavens opened with snow and wind.
There was a little bit of a queue at regular check in so I took the lift to the Executive lounge ( 19th out of 20 floors).

Christina checked me in. She said that the hotel was very busy and she could not upgrade me to a Queen Executive room. There were Twin Executive rooms available but she said she had put me in a corner room which was nicer. She also said that the Sunday newspaper was free)
I was invited to partake of afternoon sandwiches, and very nice ckaes while my room was ready.
After around 20mins she came round with my key so I headed down to the 14th floor.

The room was at the end of the corridor and faced west. The room was large, with a sofa as well as a desk and appeared larger than standard rooms.

There was a card from the manager with a full bottle of Red wine ( a very nice touch)

There was also a bathrobe and slippers in the wardrobe ( another nice touch)

The bathroom was alrge with the standard hilton amenities ( for UK hiltons)

The fitness room is large and well equipped together with a large swimming pool ,steam room, jacuzzi and sauna.

I went up to the Exec lounge at 545 pm prior to dinner and it was full with a lot of the nibbles gone ( they had haggis balls)

I had dinner at 6pm in Minsky's ( buffet) with the above soup and a full range of hot and cold dishes ( incl lamb stuffed with haggis)

The buffet was very good if a little pricy for my tastes ( £ 25 -c $45) not including drinks and coffee.

After dinner I went back to the lounge and there had a very large selection of liquor ( and soft drinks) all free. Christina made me a rum and American cream soda ( very nice).

The bed was good and the room was quiet.

In the morining I went back to the lounge for breakfast and the lounge was empty.

They had a good range of cold buffet items ( plus hot bacon and scrambled eggs).

After another work out and a shower I went back to the lounge to check out .

The sunday newspaper charge ( £1.40 for the Independent was removed by Donna without me prompting her as she said it was complimentary) .

Overall a very nice hotel and recommended.

Regards
