It now seems to still be the case until the end of January. I don't believe Qantas have as yet physically changed the seats in the cabins.

Here's a useful tip on how to check seat maps online without resorting to paid subscriptions like the above:

• Go to www.expedia.com (make sure it is the US site)
• Find your prospective flight(s) on Expedia.
• Hit the "Preview Seat Availability" button and you should get a seat map with the taken and available seats.
  
  Note, seats in economy, business and first cabins can be previewed, but premium economy may be excluded.
