My wife and I were recently at the LHR on an award stay. Quite honestly, I do not understand the negative comments appearing on this thread. Methinks that the long, long walk to the hotel taints people's views. But that's LHR - our walk from the UA arrivals gate to immigration seemed interminable, not to mention the walk from baggage claim to the HEX station.
Back on topic, ee found our room to be quite nicely appointed, albeit small (welcome to the UK). The staff was helpful and very friendly, especially after my own bonehead move which necessitated that the fire brigade pay a visit to the hotel. We were pre-upgraded to an Executive Level room, and while we did not experience the lounge in the evening, the breakfast offerings were very good. Free internet access in the lounge as well.
Overall, we were very satisfied. I will say that the hotel seemed overpriced as a Premium level property (I think it is category 5 under the new rules, please correct me if I'm wrong), but I would definitely not call it a dump.
