The best netbook out there right now is the Toshiba N280. You can buy it for $350 at Microcenter or the fancier design for $399.

9 Hour battery life, 280 processor (faster than the standard Atom 270), upgradable memory, built-in webcam, and (depending on where you live) local hardware support. I highly recommend this machine.

I also have the HP Mini. I like the HP but think the Toshiba is a better value.
