I've already qualified for 2010 platnium through the Amex Plat promotion. I'm hoping that such a stay would be counted as 2010 to help earn status for 2011.
30 rooms nights in a calendar year would to me mean checking in on 30th Dec. would see it and the 31st Dec. counted in '09 towards '10 elite status while 1st & 2nd Jan. counted as '10 elite stay credit. The wording seems straightforward enough to me but if still in doubt call FPC for their interpretation.
