I am similar to your post.

Flight is delayed 20 hours, and I have an onward connection booked on Emirates, which I of course how now missed.

The delay was due to something mechanical, so I am hoping that there is some type of compensation for now missing a whole day at my destination.

We will see what AC says when I get to the airport for the second time.
