@robhakari

Mtv u is pretty basic card plus thank you network is definitely not rewarding in my experience .

@guv

You are right that I can get AA card and free flight but ultimately I have to cancel it .But we are assuming that they may waive off second year fee which will be unlikely since I won't using that card so that won't motivate them to waive off my fee.

The cap for cards like HH ,amtrak tie up to these programs.You need to gather a lot of points to get free night at hh .Their lowest tier hotels(7500 redemption) are not present at major places and are very limited.

@Lin

Discover more gives a lot in cashback 5 to 20% when you shop through shopdiscover(they are really useful stores where you can get a lot like dell,footlocker(10%) and this is irrespective of how much you have used your card.I am not sure about 5% cashback bonus given quartely.This card is primary for purpose of using shopdiscover stores which all start from 5% onwards and also double value on gift certificates is really useful like 40$ certificate for 20$ cash back.

250$ /month is just the expenditure san shopping I do or my trips.

Combination of these cards gets you the maximum out of your dollar witout being tying to some limit. Expedia card is only for the reason that it gives double points for air plus 1 point/3miles which if we add up basically gives quite a bit of points /dollar.

I am sure when my expenditure increases quite a bit then i will be looking at cards like starwood or some amex clear or something.
