Since you mentioned you are not going to have status til this monday evening, would that be the reason ? You didn't have status before, so how can you already jump in the conclusion that status has nothing to do with it ?

I am not sure about LH and LX requirement for exit row seats, I think you should check to find out. As I can tell you for UA, only UA star gold can reserve exit rows in advance on UA metal. If the status you are getting soon is star silver, it may or may not work for you to pre assign exit row. Once again, call them to find out the situation.
