On my exhaustive sampling on UA intl C, I found that NTSC is a tad less bad than PAL and PAL less crippled than 24fps.
Also the wandering lines which disturb the image decrease with increased resolution, they do however not go away, even for a perfect match to 640x480 or PAL. Nor does the progressive nor interlaced format completely remedy the situation.
And now, highers bitrates look only marginally better. I wonder if they resample the analog output from the iPods.
