What about hotels with stated opening dates that are probably never going to get built?
Consider the Raleigh, NC market: every time you search for a room, "The Westin Raleigh Soleil Center" shows up. (Until recently its opening date showed up as December 2011.) According to the SPG web site, "The Westin Raleigh Soleil Center boast [sic] 250 spacious guest rooms and 25,000 square feet of versatile meeting space." In reality, it's a few holes in the ground with
six-digit mechanic's liens on the holes.
When booking hotels using the mobile web interface, the imaginary hotels often show up
before real, bookable ones.
I understand listing a hotel early for meeting planners, especially if construction is proceeding on schedule, but it's annoying to sort through these altogether imaginary hotels when looking for an actual room.
