Poor "available" seats on CDG-ICN Oct 17th

Having booked a flight to ICN though AF (Code share by Korean Air) in October the seat selection is unbelievable bad (in Y).

There are only a few "available" rows from row 36 to 42 (if my memory serves me right) when I want to select my seat(s). You can clearly see that all the other seats are blocked!?!?

This surely can't be right, as I'm FB Gold (Elite+)? I was silver at the time I made the booking, but don't know if that makes any difference...

What should I do to get "better" seats further up front (maybe even emergency exit)? Also, being Elite+ (actually both of us are) would it be possible to request the middle seat being blocked or is this only one of those unwritten Platinum "services"?

I'm a little reluctant to call FB as I'm scared of the call center people... They can be very mean at times
