We all like to walk, so short walks are no problem for us.
I should add that walking around the greater Waikiki area is quite easy and rather pleasurable. You probably wouldn't need a bus to get to say Ala Moana mall on one side and the zoo on the other, assuming that your hotel is basically central Waikiki.
