Exactly, many of my customers make their way from Europe to GZ via HKG. Two of them recently flew AF to HKG and after a brief stopover, boarded their CZ flight to CAN. I understand that AF flies to CAN as well, but they had commenced their trip in CCS so flying to HKG and then to CAN instead of directly to CAN would have meant a shorter transit time for them at CDG.
Likewise, CX can promote special fares to CAN (via HKG) from every destination it flies to in Europe, incl. codeshare. The twice daily is a smart move in my opinion.
Otherwise, it's an option for Tung Chung residents to get to CAN real quick.
