That's good advice. I would also suggest using an
upgrade award if you will have the points and the ocean view is important to you (and it should be - I've stayed in an ocean view junior suite in the old Princeville - best view in the world). The drawback is that you can't confirm the upgrade until five days before arrival, but it can still be a good insurance policy if you don't want to chance a gold upgrade and are reluctant to spend the extra coin.
