A380 On-Board Internet/747 retro-fit?

I'm not sure i've seen this mentioned in a while, so thought i'd bring it up (feel free to direct me elsewhere if people have info although a google search showed up nothing).

QF announced the A380 would have internet access, then said it would be 'limited cached internet'. As far as I can tell, all references to any kind of connectivity are removed from the QF A380 site, with the exception of caveats stating 'connectivity charges may apply'.

Has anyone heard any more about possible launch dates or if they're even going to deploy it? There was talk about them retro fitting the 744's as well with wireless (not ethernet like the A380 seats do already have), although I can't see that happening.
