I had the same email confirmation problem a month ago. Originally I was told by the Int'l Desk that it would take 48 hours "because our email servers are slow." After 3 days I called again and was told in a very hush hush manner that "our email servers don't work very well." I was trying to follow-up on an award on Lufthansa (no US segment).
Then I was told I could find it myself...from the Home Page, use Travel Tools, then go to "Manage reservations," then under "My Online Reservations" login with password...Lo & Behold! There it was! Ready to be printed out!
That was an award using my miles on LH, that I had gotten for someone else.
The agent said she was sending another email. I never got it.
