Success at last. I sent two emails to US through their website this afternoon and within a couple hours I received a response.

The first said:

Dear Mr. broadwayblue,

Thank you for visiting usairways.com.

I have sent the e mail receipt to your email address. The confirmation
code for your reservation is XXXXXX. Your flight will not be able to
pull up online due to the Turkish Airlines is the carrier on all of the
flights.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to reply
or call our Internet Support Desk at (800) 327-7810. We know that you
have many choices and we thank you for choosing US Airways.

Fortunately a short while later I received the confirmation with the simple text format described by kinglobjaw above.

In all it took 3 phone calls, several failed live chat requests and 2 emails to get a simple confirmation. I certainly hope that is not par for the course with US...but it's the only sample size I have to go by. For me it was not a great experience. On the bright side...I won't be flying with them.
