I think that's a very fair and solid outcome. Others will disagree, but I think there's value in establishing a more clearly defined benefit for this type of circumstance .... even if it happens only occasionally.
I don't think it's fair for folks to jump on the OP here. He was aware of what the policy was from being a loyal FTer (like most anyone reading this thread) and was disappointed when the hotel didn't extend due benefits. In the end, the OP chose to persue the matter and, in the end, he prevailed as having been correct. Both the hotel and the internal support team will all be advised and coached so that future situations will be handled more professionally and with consistency.
As William shared with us, this sort of scenario plays out very rarely, so it's not as if this newflash will affect thousands of Gold members weekly in either a good or bad way. It was always an irregular thing.
Jumping on the OP isn't fair, IMHO.
