I'm looking to fly sometime in January. I thought maybe it was the timing, but even when i push back the dates to next july I still can't find a single flight to vancouver. I had a go from Los Angelos as well, but no dice.
There's plenty of service to Vancouver, just none of it from the US west coast, since American Airlines uses Alaska Airlines for "codeshare" flights north and south on the west coast, and Alaska is not a Oneworld carrier.

You'd have to go something like Brisbane - Los Angeles - San Francisco - Dallas - Vancouver - New York - Rio, or some such. Vancouver has Oneworld service from/to Dallas, New York, Mexico City, Tokyo, Hong Kong and London.

Note the online tool is just for the Oneworld Explorer RTW product. Depending on your overall itinerary, you might look at the Global Explorer instead (cost based on miles flown, instead of continents) since Alaska Airlines is an eligible carrier for the GlobEx.
