Thanks, and thanks for your concern. You know, my dad is a funny guy. He's not interested in travel now, other than driving the 6 hours to the former gold mining camp in the mountains where he grew up. He has a cabin in the woods and he likes the views and the clean air and the wildlife. He walked all through there as a kid, hunting, fishing, hiking etc. and it's the only place he wants to go or be. Luckily he can still drive. He's at about 99% of normal - he has the same thing Ted Kennedy had but he's been luckier so far - so he's spending a lot of time out there and I'm getting out there with him sometimes as well.

This is a smart idea to keep the account active in the long term. He is still spending on his Milage Plus Visa right now so even though he isn't flying, he's got the account extended out 18 months every billing cycle.
