US is completely able to provide the confirmation numbers for all the partners on award tickets. I ask before I hang-up and usually get them right away.

That way I can often avoid phone calls and go to the partner websites to mess with my seat assignment. If it's United, give it a day or two and you can even look it up by credit card used to pay the taxes/fees.
