I actually went to grad school (back in '97 & '98) about 30 minutes northwest of Cranberry Township, I found it interesting what I noticed this time that I never noticed before. Of course my priorities were different back then then they are now.
There are many chain resturants and a few local places in the area.
There is a
Quaker Steak & Lube (Buffalo Wings - casual) lots of different types of wings. Nice to take the kids to but I probably wouldn't go if it was just my wife and I. The all you can eat lunch buffet (if they still have it) is the best deal.
I know that there is a pretty good Indian resturant, but I can not recall the name of it. Great Mango milkshakes.
If you are staying for more then one night I would suggest trying to get down to Pittsburgh to eat at a couple places there.
1)
Primanti Brothers (very casual)
Located in the Strip District Primanti Brothers serves excellent sandwiches. There are several other locations but I always enjoyed this one the most. Great place for people watching.
2) Right down the street from Primanti Brothers is
Kaya. A Carribean/Jamaican fare resturant. They have a wide selection at the bar and the food is excellent (my favorite is the Crab cakes appetizer). It is usually quite busy on the weekends, fyi.
There is also a Spaghetti Warehouse and a Whiskey Dick's (I don't think they have the "all you can eat crab legs" deal anymore) on the same street as the first two resturants.
