You may try asking at the gate and if that doesn't help try asking the purser.
Tel him/her the reason why they may try to swap seats after takeoff.

About your luggage you do not have to claim them at Amsterdam if your ticket is booked for Berlin with AMS as a stop over.
Just go through the Schengen control point.
