I've just booked an itinerary, that includes CLT-PHL and back. The first of these flights leaves Wednesday. First is wide open. The US website suggests that silvers are considered for upgrade 2 days out. With DL, the upgrade is an automatic process, you either get it, or appear as lucky #567 on the standby list

Is US also automatic, or do I need to call/check a box somewhere on the website?
