When you check in at LAX, you will checked thru to final destination along with your luggage allowance which is 2 pieces at 23kg each.
As long as your ticket includes travel to/from US, all sectors will have the same baggage allowance including the AI/IC sectors.
What I meant is excess baggage out of the allowance. SQ may accept up to SIN, but not AI from SIN-MAA. Have witnessed situations where pax's bags were offloaded and pax were "forced" to pay for the excess baggage by the AI ground staff in SIN before the bags were loaded on the SIN-MAA sector. The bags were checked through to MAA from USA.
